In this month’s meeting, the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted to commit our organization to the A Better Wake initiative. This initiative is calling on community members and organizations to support a collective commitment to dismantle systemic racism. Our organization believes in the mission of A Better Wake: “We commit to building a better Wake. We will not shy away from our history, and will call out realities, even the ones that cause discomfort. We will invest in understanding the issues facing our community and commit to taking steps to tangibly fix them.”
We look forward to continue working alongside other community leaders and serving as a conduit in this space the way we do in other areas – connecting folks who otherwise would not have the opportunity to reach a certain audience, helping facilitate the conversations, and being present at the table. As the Chamber of Commerce, it is our role and our responsibility to amplify the voices of our members and empower members of our local business community.
